Collections Supervisor

The Collections Supervisor will report directly to the Director of Collections. Areas of responsibility include working with delinquent accounts and charge-offs. The Collections Supervisor will be responsible for training, coaching, motivating, recognizing, account reviews, assigning queues, and monitoring work daily in support of department goals.

The position will be responsible and accountable for effectively supervising Collectors in a fast paced environment and developing and implementing collection strategies to coincide with the changing needs of the business and proposes solutions to streamline business processes.
The knowledge, skills and abilities crucial to the role include:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills required for interfacing with staff and management.
• Strong leadership skills to ensure that full staffing, consistent remote monitoring, thorough queue audits, adequate training, and staff development needs are met.
• Analytical ability to understand, interpret, and develop various reports and data.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Exceptional judgment in offering customer service to members, adhering to policy, complying with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other applicable regulations, while protecting the credit union assets by identifying opportunities to reduce losses.
• Strong knowledge and experience with effective collections on delinquent accounts, charge-offs, recoveries, and dealer direct lending programs.
• Ability to understand and interpret goals.
• Ability to understand and be aware of possible suspicious activities or transactions by members or by employees, directors, executives, or officers of the credit Union. Promptly notify management as required by credit union policy if unusual activity is observed which could be an indication of financial crime or efforts to evade reporting requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act or other laws and regulations.
• May be asked to fill in for Director of Collections during vacations or other temporary requirements.
The education and experience needed for the position include 2-5 years of collections experience, Bachelor’s degree or previous Supervisory experience preferred, and strong collection insight to direct third party agencies to deliver desired results.
