Vice President Collections and Fraud

The Vice President of Collections and Fraud is responsible for the overall management of the Collections and Fraud Teams. This position serves as part of the leadership team and is responsible for demonstrating strong, inspiring leadership in support of the credit union’s vision and mission, ensuring that members are provided with unwavering, exceptional service.

RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
Collections
• Oversees Collections department, setting collections strategy to meet goals recommended to and approved by CLO
• Responsible for outsourced collections partnerships through SWBC and FIS – determining and recommending to CLO criteria for outsourcing strategy, reviewing weekly and monthly reports, setting expectations, providing service standards, communicating regularly with SWBC and FIS resources
• Responsible for Collections department structure – strategic assignment of loan types, size, and delinquency severity
• Serves as Chair of the Workout Committee – responsible for ensuring proper workout process and procedures, review of workouts, and final determination of all TDR and non-TDR workouts and facilitates reporting to Accounting; creation of committee and management of committee members and procedures
Fraud
• Oversees Fraud department, setting fraud strategy to mitigate internal and external fraud risks
• Collaborates with Internal Audit, BSA, Lending, Retail, and IT to ensure proper fraud procedures are in place and followed
• Oversees lending system audits for suspicious internal and external activity; implements safeguards as appropriate
• Monitors FIS and VISA fraud reports, recommending and implementing automated and manual actions to limit exposure
• Receives fraud reports from BSA and Internal Audit and coordinates investigations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state collection and fraud laws and regulations
• Ability to conduct Fraud Investigations to identity ways to mitigate on going fraudulent activities
• Ability to monitor the latest fraud techniques and recommend proactive and preventative solutions to protect our members and the credit union
• Ability to understand the cause and effect of certain environment and technology drivers that impact collections and the ability for parties to conduct fraud
EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field. MBA preferred.
• Experience: Approximately 10+ years in a strategic lending, risk, and/or collections role within the financial industry
